Bishop Ireton High School, a Catholic high school within the Diocese of Arlington, Virginia, was founded in 1964 by the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales with whom the school remains affiliated. The coeducational, college preparatory high school, grades nine through twelve, operates on a semester system. Emphasis is placed on the Salesian community of learning and the principles of Christian living and academic preparation for continuing education. These goals are pursued through the school motto modeled on the words of Pope Paul VI, “advance always.”

Fine Arts
Bishop Ireton's Symphonic Wind Ensemble enjoys a reputation as one of the country's leading educational models. The Theater Department holds the distinction as one of the area's finest programs. Many main stage productions have won several Cappies awards. The Art Department offers classes for beginners and advanced students. -
Student Life
Co-curricular activities offer additional opportunities for student personal and spiritual growth. A sampling of the clubs and activities include Campus Ministry, Beta Club, Drama Club, French Club, Model United Nations, International Thespian Society, Student Government, National Honor Society and the Economics Club. -
Athletics
The Bishop Ireton Cardinals compete in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference in both boys and girls sports. Bishop Ireton offers a full range of athletic teams in three levels: freshmen, junior varsity and varsity. -
Campus Ministry
"Be who you are and be that well." This quote from our patron, St. Francis de Sales, encapsulates the mission of campus ministry at Bishop Ireton. Every student who walks the halls is encouraged and equipped to live their Catholic faith by striving for holiness.

What are the school hours?
The school office is open Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 3:30pm. The school day begins at 7:55am and ends at 3:05pm on regular schedule days and 2:25pm on no advisory schedule days. -
